Things were quiet for a change in the world that revolved
around the headquarters of Overwatch. The robot attacks had subsided for the
most part, perhaps to recharge their batteries (as the jovial Tracer joked one
day) or to plan their next attack. Combine that with ‘training sessions’ all
done until after the weekend, and normal citizens were suddenly finding
themselves in a rare period of peace and tranquility. The same could be said for
anyone, both good and bad, with even remote ties to Overwatch, as evidenced by
three casually-dressed figures approaching the doors to Brigitte’s laboratory.
Most people knew these three heroes as Tracer, Pharah, and Mercy. As already
mentioned, all three were dressed casually in pants and T-shirts without a shred
of heroic gear on them.
“So, lads, what do you suppose Brigitte is cooking up for us?” Tracer asked as
the trio stood outside the automatic doors, watching as the lights on it changed
as the security system scanned them from head to toe.
“Naturally, whatever Winston asks of her.” Pharah said. Before the trio could
chat any further, the doors opened and they walked inside the lab.
Unsurprisingly, the place was littered with gadgets everywhere they looked.
“Wow… look at all this firepower that’s still under development.” Mercy said.
“And yet probably no healing stuff that you could use.” Pharah said.
“Oh, I don’t know. My healing powers are already top notch, or so says Winston.”
Mercy said.
“Brigitte! Where are ya, mate!?” Tracer shouted.
“Do you think that’s a good idea, Tracer? We are making an unannounced visit,
after all.” Pharah asked.
“Awwww… don’t be soft, love! Brigitte’s practically welcomed us with open arms,
outside of training battles, anyway!” Tracer said.
“She’s probably in her living room. Only Brigitte can literally have one half of
her house a weapons lab and the other half… a normal house.” Mercy said.
“Well then, that’s where we’re heading!” Tracer said.
The trio navigated around the lab until finally finding a set of double doors.
Before they could approach them, however, something larger than usual caught the
eye of Tracer.
“Whoa! Hold on, loves! What’s this?” Tracer said as she looked down on the table
at the larger-than-usual red and yellow colored rifle.
“That’s a pretty big gun.” Pharah said.
“And colorful too.” Mercy said.
“What do you suppose its function is? Surely this can’t be any ordinary gun.
Maybe it shoots lasers instead?” Tracer said.
“Maybe we shouldn’t find out, Tracer. You should put that back where you found
it.” Pharah said.
“Nah… it’s probably not even armed and…” Tracer said as she playfully pulled on
the trigger, thinking the blaster wouldn’t do anything.
But NOPE! A blue laser surrounded first Tracer and then Pharah and Mercy as she
recoiled backwards. The gun fell out of Tracer’s hands, and rather conveniently
back on the table it originated. Tracer, Pharah, and Mercy couldn’t tell what
was happening because of how bright the laser that shot them was, but they were
rapidly shrinking in size. Smaller and smaller the three got until they
seemingly vanished out of sight.
The three luckily didn’t vanish… they were instead way too small for any normal
person to see. The three had shrunken just a tad smaller than ant size, probably
not even one inch tall! It didn’t dawn on them right away as they rapidly
blinked their eyes to restore their vision.
“Whoa… did any bloke get the license plate of that bright sunlight?” Tracer
said.
“And that’s why they tell you never to look directly at the sun.” Mercy said.
“Never mind that! Where are we? Did we get teleported to some underground
factory?” Pharah said.
“No wait… look.” Mercy said as she ran over to one of the table legs that had a
big scratch on it.
“I recognize this scratch anywhere. Brigitte made it last week chasing after a
bolt that tried to get away.” Mercy said as she pointed up.
“But if it’s all the way up there and it’s so much bigger than before…” Tracer
said.
That’s when it hit all three ladies and they gasped.
“WE SHRUNK! EEEEEEEEEEEK!!!” they all screamed. Pharah then angrily grabbed
Tracer by her shirt and gave her a good shake.
“Tracer, goddammit!! This is your fault! What do you have to say about making us
smaller than cookie crumbs!?” Pharah said.
“Um… sorry?” Tracer said with hesitation in her voice. Mercy then came in
between the two.
“Alright, alright, settle down! Like we’re taught in Overwatch, just… deep
breath… we’ll figure out a way out of this.” Mercy said.
“And how do you propose we do that?” Pharah asked.
“Simple! We fly into the next room and get Brigitte’s attention!” Mercy said.
“Except you’re forgetting one thing.” Pharah said as she pointed towards Mercy’s
back. That’s when Mercy patted her back repeatedly and remembered one important
thing.
“Oh… right. I’m not wearing my hero suit, so no flying for me.” Mercy said.
“Blimey! The one time we don’t wear our hero suits when we need them the most.
What rubbish, right?” Tracer said. Pharah sighed.
“But then again, who knew Brigitte was spending her free time building a shrink
ray, leaving it in the open for SOMEBODY to play with.” Pharah said, once again
giving an angry glare over at Tracer.
But before the two could argue anymore, all three shrunken ladies looked at the
gigantic set of double doors that opened automatically. Coming out, dressed in
her pajamas and old worn-out flip flops, was a positively enormous Brigitte, who
looked around left and right but not up and down.
“Hmmm? Is someone here? I thought I heard something.” Brigitte said. She took a
couple steps to the left, unknowingly her footwear coming within a couple feet
of the shrunken trio, who screamed their heads off while jumping up and down
trying to get the giantess’s attention.
“BRIGITTE!!!” they all screamed. But of course, they were much too small to be
heard, and it didn’t make them feel better as they watched the giantess shrug
her shoulders and turn around, heading back to the doors.
“Maybe it’s just mice or something.” Brigitte said as she walked past the double
sliding doors. As soon as the doors closed, the three ladies all slumped their
shoulders.
“She didn’t even hear us.” Pharah said.
“Well, of course! Our voices can only travel so far, and given we’re so teeny
tiny…” Tracer said.
“You don’t have to remind us, Tracer!” Mercy shouted in a frustrated tone.
Tracer sighed and frowned.
“Sorry, love.” Tracer said.
“Alright, alright. We have to get to the non-lab portion of Brigitte’s home.”
Pharah said.
“But now? Those doors aren’t going to open for us, for sure!” Mercy said.
“Yes, but I know another way out of this lab. It’ll be a looooooooong walk,
though.” Pharah said.
“Anything’s better than staying here, that’s for sure!” Tracer said.
“Alright then. Follow me.” Pharah said as she and the other ladies made their
way around the gigantic laboratory.
It took almost two hours, but finally the shrunken trio (breathing heavily from
all that fast walking) made it into a gigantic room, where they saw Brigitte
walking towards a door after hearing a knocking sound. They watched as Brigitte
opened the door and let two more recognizable heroes into the room, D.Va and
Mei. They too were wearing pajamas and slippers suitable for a bedtime party.
“Ah, right on time, you two!” Brigitte said as she stepped aside and let the two
ladies in. Immediately, D.Va and Mei kicked off their slippers, leaving them in
their bare feet.
“We cut it close, though. D.Va almost wouldn’t get off her game.” Mei said.
“Hey, come on! My team’s got a hot winning streak going on!” D.Va shouted. The
three approached the table in the middle where they saw all sorts of food and
drinks sitting there.
“You certainly did not skimp on the treats, Brigitte.” Mei said.
“Trust me, I did all the research I could on slumber parties to make sure I got
it right. I especially made sure to prepare something hot for you, Mei.”
Brigitte said as she pointed to an unopened cup of coffee.
“That’s… generous of you, Brigitte. Xie xie.” Mei said as she gracefully bowed
towards the fellow hero, adjusting her glasses afterwards.
“Sooooo… what do we do first?” Brigitte asked.
“Easy! You always start a sleepover with a dance!” D.Va said as she reached into
her outfit and eventually pulled out a USB thumb drive.
“Ladies, I bring you the latest in K-Pop!” D.Va shouted as she plugged the drive
into the nearby stereo. The music played automatically and D.Va wasted no time
in breaking into a dance suitable for the song. Mei and Brigitte couldn’t help
but laugh, even as D.Va approached them.
“Come on, you’re not gonna sit still for this one!” D.Va said.
“Whoa!” Mei and Brigitte both shouted as they suddenly found themselves dancing
all around the room to the beat of the music.
Pharah, Tracer, and Mercy all stayed tucked against the wall, but they still
gulped nervously seeing the three giantesses towering so high above them even
from a distance.
“They are so big… the Egyptian gods would likely have a field day if they were
still around.” Pharah said.
“We have to get to higher ground. Maybe if we climb on top of that table, we can
get their attention.” Mercy said.
“Sounds like a plan, mate! Let’s go!” Tracer said as she ran towards one of the
table legs.
“Tracer, wait!” Mercy shouted. Pharah rolled her eyes.
“See? I told you she can be such an airhead.” Pharah said as the two ladies
quickly ran after Tracer. The three were about to learn fast why waiting until
they finished dancing was the better idea, as about halfway through the trip,
the trio watched the giantess trio suddenly come marching towards them.
“Heads up!” Mercy shouted as she and the other two dove out of the way before
the bare feet of Mei and D.Va and the flip flops of Brigitte could crush them
flat.
“Whew… that was a close shave.” Mercy said, while Pharah slapped Tracer in the
back of her head.
“Now you see why we should’ve waited until they finished dancing!?” Pharah said.
“Alright, alright. I apologize. But at least we made it, right?” Tracer said as
she pointed behind her at the towering table leg.
“Whatever.” Pharah said.
The trio approached the leg and saw its many cracks and fissures that normally
wouldn’t be seen by the naked eye.
“Wow… you have to admit it’s amazing that at this size we can see the many
imperfections of this table leg.” Mercy said.
“That’s all fine and dandy, but I feel we shouldn’t waste another second down
here. I feel… demoted, like this.” Pharah said.
“I gather you’re right, love. Last one up top is a cockroach’s wife!” Tracer
said as she hopped onto the leg and climbed it, using the imperfections as
ledges. Pharah and Mercy cringed as they followed Tracer from behind. Once again
thanks to their size, the journey proved to be long, but at least they weren’t
in any danger of getting crushed anymore, even as the giantesses marched by
behind them.
By the time they made it to the top of the table, they looked around and saw
giant food and drinks everywhere.
“*whistles* I feel like I’ve climbed atop the beanstalk and this is my reward.”
Mercy said.
“Beanstalk?” Pharah asked.
“Didn’t you read Jack and the Beanstalk growing up in Egypt?” Tracer asked.
“Sorry. That wasn’t part of my school reading list.” Pharah said.
Suddenly, the three saw a dark shadow loom over them. It was Brigitte as she
stood over the table and blocked out the room light. And she was looking right
down at the shrunken trio.
“Oh! Brigitte! Maybe she finally spotted us!” Mercy shouted. While Brigitte was
indeed looking down at them, it was for an entirely different reason…
“Ick! Bugs! How did you blasted critters get in here!?” Brigitte said. Tracer,
Pharah, and Mercy all gasped as they watched Brigitte get down on one knee.
“No, Brigitte! Wait! It’s us!!!” Tracer said as she and the other shrunken ones
all begged and pleaded up at the giantess. Instead, Brigitte took a deep breath
and exhaled, watching as the ‘bugs’ sailed into the air. She stood back up, not
caring where those ‘critters’ eventually landed, even as D.Va and Mei rejoined
their companion.
“Bugs? Where?” D.Va asked.
“Don’t worry, I blew them away. They’re probably dead just from my breath.”
Brigitte said.
“Awwww… that’s too bad. I was hoping to experiment on them with my cryo
technology.” Mei said.
“Ummm… don’t you need your combat suit for that?” D.Va asked.
“Er… right. Sorry. I forgot… I’m so used to wearing it most of the day!” Mei
said.
“Ditto on that. So anybody hungry after all that dancing?” Brigitte said.
“Haha! You bet! Save those chips and dip for me!” D.Va said.
“Not if I beat you to it!” Mei shouted as the three girls took a seat on the
nearby couch.
As for the micronized Tracer, Pharah, and Mercy… they were coughing and gasping
for air as they splashed around in whatever liquid they landed in. But at least
they were still alive.
“Holy British Intelligence! I can’t believe we’re still alive after that!”
Tracer said.
“We’ve been saved by…” Pharah said as she took a look at her surroundings,
“Onion dip?”
“How do you like that? We owe our lives to an appetizer.” Mercy said. This
surprisingly brought out a laughter from all three shrunken ladies. They
couldn’t giggle for long, though, as Pharah was quick to remind them of the
predicament they were in.
“We should get out of here before we get eaten.” Pharah said.
“Oh, relax, Pharah! How much can they possibly eat, especially D.Va? For a girl
who plays games 12 hours a day, she looks very fit.” Tracer said.
Their question was about to be quickly answered as they all looked up and saw
the heads of Mei, D.Va, and Brigitte all above, complete with potato chips in
their hands.
"Noooooo!" they all screamed as they went swimming through the thick onion dip
while chips rained down from above. The three normal-sized girls ate up the
chips and talked about random stuff as they ate away, not caring that dip would
sometimes drip off the chips and land on the table. The three shrunken girls
swam frantically trying to avoid being scooped up in one of the chips, despite
being practically drenched from head to toe in dip, and it was causing fatigue
to build up as it got harder and harder to cut their way through. There were
many close calls, but for Tracer, her luck would finally run out when D.Va made
a scoop that included her with it. Tracer had great fear on her face as she
looked up and saw D.Va’s gigantic face, watching as the giantess licked her
lips.
“Mmmmm… there’s something kinda sexy about admiring and then eating a chip and
dip!” D.Va said as she moved the chip toward her open mouth. Even as Tracer
fought her way out of the dip, she was looking straight inside D.Va’s titanic
and messy maw, ready to engulf her whole.
“Eeeeeeek!!!” Tracer squealed like children as she watched the light fade out
the deeper she got into D.Va's mouth.
D.Va finally bit down on the chip and Tracer slid off it and onto her tongue,
getting thrown around like a ragdoll as the chip (and dip) got swished to the
side of the giantess's mouth and was savagely chewed on. Eventually, it would be
Tracer herself standing on the bottom teeth, watching as one of the top molars
was coming down and about to crush her like a car at a junkyard. But then…
Tracer remembers something very important about herself.
“Wait! I can blink even without my suit!” Tracer said as she snapped her fingers
and quickly concentrated, and right in the nick of time too. When it looked like
she was about to be crushed, Tracer suddenly became transparent and found
herself moving back in her own time. She timed it just right to stop her recall,
eventually landing right on D.Va’s lower lip and holding on for the ride as the
giantess chewed and chewed her chip.
“Whew… that was close, but I’m not out of the castle yet.” Tracer said as she
wondered what to do next, namely in how she was going to save Pharah and Mercy
and get somebody’s attention.
She didn’t have to wait long, actually. Mei looked over towards D.Va, watching
her chew and suddenly taking notice of the ‘bug’ on D.Va’s lower lip.
“Oh! D.Va, excuse me, but it appears a bug has taken refuge on your lower lip.”
Mei said.
“Huh?” D.Va said as she stuck her lower lip outward and tried to get a good look
at the ‘bug.’ She at first tried to swat it off, but Mei quickly stopped her.
“Whoa whoa! Please let the bug live for now. It may just be looking for its
home.” Mei said.
“As you wish, lover of all living things, warm or cold.” D.Va said. She then
carefully plucked the bug off her lip, pinching it between two of her fingers.
As she held the ‘bug’ up against one of her eyes, she lightly gasped, realizing
this wasn’t a ‘bug’ at all. It was an incredibly tiny Tracer.
“Huh? This isn’t a bug! It’s an incredibly tiny Tracer!” D.Va said.
“Tracer!?” Mei and Brigitte both shouted. Brigitte shuffled on the couch to
where D.Va was sitting and got a good look at the shrunken Tracer next. Brigitte
immediately put two and two together.
“You used my prototype shrink ray, didn’t you, Tracer?” Brigitte said. At first
she couldn’t hear her, but then leaned her ear towards the shrunken girl and
could finally hear her, albeit in a squeaky voice.
“YES!” Tracer said.
“Huh? You have a shrink ray, Brigitte?” Mei said.
“Well… yes, but it’s far from battle ready. Just give me Tracer right away so I
can correct this.” Brigitte said, holding out a hand and allowing D.Va to drop
Tracer onto her palm. Once she was on there, Brigitte jumped to her feet and
left the room, leaving D.Va and Mei to look at each other in confusion.
“Don’t look at me! Brigitte had made more things than Winston has climbed
trees.” Mei said.
“I say this definitely calls for a double helping of chips and dip.” D.Va said
as the two ladies got back to eating chips and dip.
This, of course, was bad news for Pharah and Mercy, who remained trapped in the
bowl of onion dip. They had no idea Tracer had been discovered already by the
giantesses, because they were so disoriented from having to swim for their lives
for so long. In fact, Mercy was right on the verge of running out of stamina.
“Pharah… can’t… hold… much… *cough cough*” Mercy said before sinking deeper
beneath the liquid part of the dip.
“Oh no no no no no! Mercy! Mercy!!” Pharah said as she tried to fish her out
with her arms and legs.
Meanwhile, in the lab, Tracer held on for the ride as Brigitte rushed around and
eventually located her shrink ray. After setting Tracer down on the floor,
coming precariously close to her flip flop, Brigitte pressed a few buttons on
her shrink ray and then fired away. The laser surrounded Tracer, with Brigitte
watching as she grew bigger and bigger. Finally, the laser dissipated and Tracer
was back to her normal size.
“Whew! Y’know, I feel so big after going through an experience like that.”
Tracer said.
“Hopefully you learned an important lesson about messing with things you didn’t
invent.” Brigitte said.
“I know, I know. I’m sorry, Brigitte.” Tracer said.
“Eh, no worries.” Brigitte said. Tracer then gasped.
“Oh! We have to restore Mercy and Pharah as well!” Tracer shouted.
“What? They shrunk too!?” Brigitte said.
“Yes! Oh dear… I hope they didn’t get eaten like I almost was by D.Va.” Tracer
said.
“Damn it!” Brigitte shouted as she ran through the nearby double doors, with
Tracer following from behind.
By the time Tracer and Brigitte got back to the party room, they saw D.Va and
Mei about to munch on more potato chips with dip.
“Drop those chips NOW!!!” Brigitte shouted as loud as she could, scaring the two
girls into dropping their chips back into the dipping bowl.
“Whoa! We’re sorry, Brigitte!” Mei said.
“Yeah, you didn’t say anything about waiting until you got back.” D.Va said.
“Forget about that! Mercy and Pharah were also shrunk. You may have already
eaten them…” Brigitte said. Mei and D.Va gasped and covered their mouths
briefly.
“Ugh… I’ll get nerfed for sure after the next Overwatch Council meeting!” D.Va
said. Tracer, meanwhile, focused her vision in the bowl of dip.
“No, wait! I think I saw something!” Tracer said as she walked over towards the
bowl. Eventually, all four ladies looked inside and saw a tiny black speck
floating around, which actually turned out to be Pharah. Tracer got closer,
giving Pharah a close up look at Tracer’s glasses-covered eyes.
“There’s Pharah! Easy there, Pharah, we’ll get you out and back in tip top size
in no time!” Tracer said as she took a nearby chip and dipped it, picking up
Pharah with it.
Tracer carefully set the chip down on the floor, and Brigitte wasted no time in
blasting it. It took 15-20 seconds for Pharah to be grown back to her normal
size, although the potato chip was bigger than usual as a result. Pharah stood
up and wiped her casual outfit of dip.
“Welcome back to the world of the normie-sized, Pharah!” D.Va joked.
“Thank goodness you made it through that.” Mei said.
“Pharah, where’s Mercy?” Tracer asked.
“*cough cough* I don’t know. She got too tired and sunk beneath the dip.” Pharah
said, causing all the girls to gasp.
“I’ll find her!” D.Va said as she started to move a finger towards the dip, only
to be pulled back by Mei.
“D.Va, you idiot! You might crush her with that finger!” Mei shouted.
“I have an idea. Somebody get me a couple empty glasses.” Brigitte said, with
Tracer and Pharah picking up a couple emptied glasses presumably once filled
with soda or water. Brigitte lifted up the bowl of dip and tipped it so that the
dip was flowing into these glasses one by one.
Once both glasses were filled up, Brigitte rotated the glasses around trying to
find any sign of the shrunken Mercy.
“Do you see her!?” Tracer said, worried about the safety of her friend and
fellow hero.
“No… ugh, this dip is so thick.” Brigitte said.
“I’m worried sick. There’s no way she would have survived that long underneath.”
Pharah said.
“Relax, everyone. Hopefully she’s like the rest of us and activated her Respawn
Beacon, which would bring us back to a safe location if anything, well, tragic
happened.” Brigitte said as she continued to scan the glasses.
Little did everyone realize, no pun intended, that Mercy had indeed drowned in
the dip and disappeared from the area thanks to her Respawn Beacon. Mercy opened
her eyes and tried to look around her dark surroundings. Where was she? Was she
back to normal size or still incredibly tiny? Was she really alive? Or gone onto
the heavens?
Only Mercy herself would find out the answer…
