Bigger Times

Saria walked into the Great Deku Tree's sacred grounds like she normally did on a daily basis. She had been given the chore by Mido to feed the Deku Tree Sprout its daily servings of nuts. The sprout smiled as the young and energetic one kneeled down before him.
"Hello, Saria. I presume you have my snack for today?" the sprout asked.
"Like always. And just the way you like them too." Saria said. She laid the deku nuts to rest right at the base of the sprout. It used its branches to pick up the nuts and eat them.
"Mmmmm... thanks so much, Saria. As always, of course." the sprout said. Saria nodded in acknowledgement. But rather than get up and walk away, she decided to stick around for a few moments and start a friendly conversation.
"Y'know, sprout, I was thinking. I feel so happy to be a sage. For one thing, I no longer have to rely on the Deku Tree's energy to stay alive outside of the forest. I can finally roam free like the morning birds and nightly owls of the forest. No longer do I need to grew to giant size just to stay healthy." Saria said.
"Yes, indeed. I remember all those times when you grow here and there. But you know what? I think that was part of your development. After Link started his adventuring, you made yourself a promise that you would be as strong as him one day and be able to join him on an adventure, or at least to be always with him." the sprout said.
"Yeah, that's true. I can remember that one time when both Link and I grew. It was certainly an incredible feeling for me not just to see the rest of Hyrule, but to see it from such a different perspective." Saria said.
"You may not look like it, Saria, but I truly believe you have greatly matured over the past seven years. If you were to age like Link, I can see the beautiful woman inside of you just waiting to do whatever her heart desires." the sprout said. Saria nodded in agreement before standing back up.
"Well, I gotta go. If anyone needs me, tell them I'll be in the Sacred Forest Meadow." Saria said.
"Sure thing, Saria. You have a good time there." the sprout said, just before Saria left the area.

About 2000 years later

In the water town of Saria, Doris was as busy as ever. So busy, it was getting her granddaughter, 17-year-old Cassandra, very concerned. Doris's body was so wrinkled from old age, she had to wear a robe for most of the day so that she may protect herself from outsiders. She had to have a cane to get around. Cassandra, with her brown hair and hazel-colored eyes, was more like the modern Hyrule girl, wearing a sleeveless red summer dress as compared to the ancient outfits that more traditional people wore.
"Grandma, why don't you take a break? You've been working on that necklace for hours now!" Cassandra said.
"Breaks will get you nowhere, Cassandra. We must have this necklace ready at all costs! Our goddess depends on it!" Doris said.
"What makes that necklace so important, anyway? The only time we can actually speak with our goddess is with her spirit at the Sage Rememberance Festival." Cassandra said.
"That's beside the point, my dear. Who knows if our goddess really has passed on? What if she could come to visit our town today just to see how we are getting along with our lifestyles? If the goddess is to appear, we must make sure she has all the power she desires. And this necklace will make sure she has it." Doris said.
"(sigh) If you insist. I still don't see what makes one little necklace so essential for our goddess." Cassandra said.

Present time

As Saria walked through the Lost Woods, humming her theme song that she usually plays on her ocarina, she stopped at the waterfront to notice a most interesting gateway of sorts. She immediately recognized the symbol engraved on this stone entrance to be the one of the Door of Time.
"Huh? What's this? I thought the Temple of Time was the only place you could find something like this." Saria said. Of course, there was only one way to find out. Saria took out her ocarina and began to play the Song of Time, which she had learned from Princess Zelda the day she officially became a sage.
Suddenly, the symbol began to glow light blue, and the black void from within the stone chambers began to fill with the same color, but in a swirling motion. Saria tried to back away from the energy, but she couldn't help but notice that she was being drawn in by the portal! Saria could feel the strength of the vacuum increasing, so all she could do was brace herself as she was being pulled in.
"What's going onnnnnnnnn!?" Saria's words echoed as she was now completely through the portal.

About 2000 years later

Cassandra and Doris headed down the path that would take them from the water town of Saria and to North Castle, where as always, Princess Zelda resided. Cassandra was still depressed that her grandmother, Doris, was going through all this trouble over a person that had died long ago giving her life to protect Hyrule.
"(sigh) Grandma. Do we really have to do all this? I'm telling you I don't think Saria exists anymore outside of her loving spirit in the town." Cassandra said.
"Nonsense, child! I just know Saria is still with us in full! She will come to visit us someday, I just know it! For now, we need to make sure this magical necklace works. Surely Princess Zelda won't mind being a test subject." Doris said.
"So, Grandma, remind me again what that necklace is supposed to do once the princess puts it on?" Cassandra asked. Before Doris could answer, however, both ladies looked up above to see a blue swirling portal of some sorts gradually getting larger.
"What in the name of Hyrule is that!?" Doris asked.
"Maybe it's another group of monsters from the Underworld! We better get back." Cassandra said. She and Doris took a few steps back and awaited what was to come out from the other end of the portal. Finally, after they both heard a female-sounding scream or two, they both watched to see a green-haired, and green-clothed, young girl fall from the portal and land on the ground. Of course, neither Cassandra or Doris had any idea right now that this was Saria. As the portal closed, both ladies ran up to the young girl to check on her.

"Is she from the Underworld, Cassandra?" Doris asked.
"I don't know, grandma. She looks too young and innocent to be serving Ganon." Cassandra said. Saria, in the meantime, was slowly regaining consciousness from her fall.
"Oh... my head." Saria said, holding her head as it seemed to spin in trips.
"Easy, girl. You took a rough landing." Cassandra said.
"Where... Where am I?" Saria asked.
"Well, you're in Hyrule. Just outside of the water town of Saria in fact." Cassandra said.
"Saria? You mean there's a town named after me?" Saria asked. Doris's eyes immediately widened upon hearing this, and she pushed Cassandra aside to look at the Kokiri girl in the eyes.
"Young girl... you wouldn't happen to be Saria, the former forest sage of Hyrule?" Doris asked.
"Well, yes, but..." Before Saria could finish, Doris jumped right in sounding excited.
"HA! I knew it! I knew one day that you would come back to our world to help protect our town! See, Cassandra? Didn't I tell you she would come back someday!?" Doris said. Cassandra remained speechless. She simply couldn't believe someone as paranoid as her grandmother would be right for a change.
"Um... excuse me, but who are you two?" Saria asked. Doris didn't hear her as she was too busy celebrating the supposed return of the town's goddess.
"Oh! I'm sorry. We were so surprised over your entrance that we couldn't properly introduce ourselves. I am Cassandra, and that's my grandmother, Doris. Her husband was the former mayor of the water town of Saria, but since he's passed away, she's taken over that position. But that's made her more determined than ever to find you, our town goddess.
"Town goddess? No, you must be mistaken! I'm guardian of the Kokiri Forest!" Saria said.
"Kokiri Forest? I... I don't think such a place exists here in Hyrule." Cassandra said.
"But I am in Hyrule, aren't I?" Saria asked. Doris jumped in between the two again, this time with an angry face.
"Cassandra, don't just stand there!!! Bring Saria back to her town at once! We must restore her goddess state of mind!" Doris said, before she started to run back to the water town of Saria.
"Don't worry. I'll explain more to you once the rituals are over. Just follow me." Cassandra said. As she started walking back, Saria kept in close tow behind her.
"Something tells me I'm in Hyrule, yet I'm not, but I can't quite figure it out yet..." Saria said to herself.

As Doris, Cassandra, and Saria all entered Saria, Doris stepped up in front of the group.
"Attention all of Saria! I give you... our town goddess!!! None other than Saria herself!!!" Doris shouted. The townsfolk all stopped to look over at the three, though when they saw Saria as the cute green-haired Kokiri girl that we all know and love, they couldn't help but break a laugh. Doris wasn't too thrilled with this one bit.
"Hmph! The nerve of people today. They have no right to just shrug off the town goddess like that!" Doris said.
"Uh... Grandma. Maybe they were expecting something more out of their goddess. Y'know, someone more lively and beautiful, like Princess Zelda." Cassandra said.
"Well, we'll just see about that!" Doris said. She then pulled out the necklace she had made out from her robe. She held it in front of Saria, who still looked as confused as ever.
"Uh... what's this?" Saria asked.
"This, my girl, is the very essence of your power. When you wear it, you will feel like yourself once again!" Doris said.
"My people? Ancient necklace? Uh... could you two kindly explain what's going on here? What day is this if you say my home forest doesn't even exist!?" Saria said.
"Well, this is the year 6917 HR. Why do you ask that?" Cassandra said. Saria's eyes widened upon hearing that. Did that gateway with the Door of Time symbol really send her that far into the future? She had heard Link's tale of warping seven years into the future to stop Ganondorf from conquering Hyrule of that time and gaining full possession of the Triforce. But to go 1,860 years into the future was way out of anyone's league!
"No... It can't be! Could I have traveled through that much time?" Saria said.
"You mean you're not from this time period?" Cassandra asked.
"Yes. I come from the past. In my time, it's the year 5057 HR. At least, that's what the Sages told me last time." Saria said. Doris and Cassandra remained speechless for the next few seconds. Surely they were fascinated to learn that Saria had traveled from the past. Doris quickly broke the silence.
"Well, regardless of whether or not you are from the past, you are the very reason this town exists! We owe all our gratitude to you, my goddess, and that's why I ask that you wear this." Doris said. Saria looked at Cassandra. Since Saria was of the child nature, Cassandra was roughly twice as tall as she was. She was just now beginning to think Cassandra as her big sister, one that may help her until she figures out how to return to the past.
"Go ahead and take it. I don't know what it will do, but at least people will respect you better." Cassandra said. Saria nodded and took the necklace from Doris's hands before she put it on.
Afterwards, the necklace started to glow a faint light before blinking on and off. As Saria looked down at her necklace, she couldn't help but look to the side and notice she was as tall as Cassandra!
"Grandma, what's happening to Saria?" Cassandra said, holding on to Doris.
"Easy, my granddaughter. She's simply returning to her goddess state." Doris said.
"Was Saria really that tall back then?" Cassandra said.
"It's a long story, but let's just watch for now." Doris said. Both she and Cassandra looked up as Saria continued to grow. Cassandra was feeling nervous that Saria would never stop growing, but she eventually did stop at about 150 feet tall.
The townsfolk noticed this right away. Some panicked and ran for their lives, while others finally believed that Saria was their long-lost goddess and they approached her to bow at her gigantic green boots.
"Uh... hi, everyone." Saria said. Obviously, the thought of being big was once again an overwhelming one. Particularly this time since the people believed at her feet believed she was their savior. Saria sat down on the ground, being careful not to crush any of the people, as Doris began to do further explanation of Saria's past.

"It was a half-century after the Imprisoning War. The one in which the evil wizard, Ganon, was first trapped in the Golden Realm. Most of the Sages were on the last legs of their lives, and it became necessary to appoint the proper descendants so that their legacy would continue to live. The descendants held a special festival across all of the original land of Hyrule. Using special magic, all of them were enlarged to gigantic sizes so that they may tour across the land that they adored so much. It was a fitting tribute, especially since this would be the last time they would be seen throughout Hyrule before forever secluding themselves to the Chamber of the Sages. In addition, mayors were given the special privilege to name their future towns after the great Sages, if they so desired." Doris explained. Saria was surprised that she was going to be honored that much several years from her current time.

But she wasn't content with just sitting in her place and let her people do the admiring over how big she was. If she was indeed the town goddess, then she had to act like one and honor the people's wishes. Who knows? They may be able to repay her the favor by returning her back to her own time.
"So, is there anything of noteworthy interest that I can do to help all of you? I know it's been almost two millennia since I've worked myself, but I'm willing to help in any way I can." Saria said. One man stepped up.
"Oh, young goddess of our town, we would be most honored if you could help us defeat Ganon." the man said. A young woman stepped up beside him.
"I agree. It would not just be our town, but this entire land of Hyrule if Ganon were finally put to rest, or at least in a way where he cannot escape from the Underworld." the woman said. Soon, the rest of the townsfolk joined in by offering the exact same request. Saria was pleasently surprised that they would offer something like this rather than a vastly improved town or happiness to one person. Of course, it was also surprising that they said Ganon rather than Ganondorf.
"Ganon? You don't mean the raging monster that the Triforce of Power made out of Ganondorf, do you!?" Saria said.
"You mean Ganon is also the ancient king of thieves, Ganondorf?" Cassandra said. Saria thought about explaining in further detail about Ganondorf's origins, but felt it was wise for them to not know since she was coming from almost 2,000 years in the past.
"Uh... never mind. So where do we find Ganon? Or at least how does he appear in Hyrule?" Saria said.
"Ganon lives on Death Mountain, but nobody can get there without being consumed by the powerful evil energy that eminates from the volcanoes. He does, however, have an entire network of labyrinth tunnels that are placed at different ends of the kingdom. There are about eight of these tunnels, each one all leading to Ganon's underground chambers beneath the mountain." Doris explained.
"Well, if he lives underground, the best we can do for now is keep him from coming up. So we'll need to seal off the underground tunnels, or better yet, destroy them!" Saria said.
"Yes! That way, Ganon will be forced to retreat from Death Mountain, and we can help warn Princess Zelda of his arrival!" Cassandra said.
"Indeed, my granddaughter. None of us except for Saria has the power to defeat someone as magical as Ganon, but with the aid of Zelda and her royal bodyguards, we may just have a fighting chance." Doris said.
"So what are we waiting for, my little citizens? Let's get going!" Saria shouted. She smiled after saying that since she had just commanded almost an entire town to do her bidding. As soon as many of the local construction workers got the supplies they needed, everyone headed out of town and started to search for the labyrinth entrance tunnels, with Saria leading the way as she took slow steps to ensure that she wouldn't get too far ahead of her company.

Meanwhile, activity was as normal as usual for Northern Village, where North Castle resided. People walked around taking care of business, whether it was buying food and supplies, chatting with friends and family, or wondering what cryptic comment that Error would have to say today.
Of course, this even applied to North Castle. King Harkinian was preparing supper (badly at that), Zelda was in her room doing makeup, and Link was swinging his sword in every direction in his room, fighting off what he called Ganon's imaginary creatures. His loyal fairy friend, Spryte, always knew this was a sign of Link being bored.
"Gosh, Link. You're feeling bored as usual. Don't you want to spend more quality time with someone more... divine, shall we say?" Spryte said. Link stopped swinging his sword and looked at his friend, who was sitting atop the Triforce of Wisdom.
"Come on, Spryte. You know we've been through this time and time again. You're just too small for me to go beyond our current relationship." Link said.
"So what? You can't seem to win Zelda's heart no matter how hard you try." Spryte said.
"Well, just you watch! Tonight will be the night I finally win her heart. A little flattery goes a long way, I always say." Link said. Spryte looked out by the window to see a most disturbing sight.
"Eeeeeek! Link! Moblins at 4 o'clock!" Spryte shouted. Link looked and then quickly jumped out of the way to avoid the Moblin's strike. Soon, there were about four moblins and two goriyas that had climbed through Link's window to confront him directly.
"So I see Ganon wants to have a little fun and games again. Well, you can count me in!" Link said. And the battle had begun. Link jumped from place to place, dodging the attacks from the creatures while awaiting the right opportunity to strike back.

Zelda was resting peacefully in her room when she started to hear the commotion from Link's room. She exited her room and ran up the stairs. She opened the door and saw Link battling Ganon's creatures. By now, there were only two moblins remaining.
"Link! Stop them before they grab the Triforce of Wisdom!" Zelda shouted.
"Hey, nice time to be a cheerleader, princess..." Link said as he was swordfighting one of the moblins. He was so preoccupied with one of the moblins, he didn't notice the other one sneak around and grab Zelda from behind. As Link defeated the moblin, he looked to see the moblin holding onto Zelda tightly.
"Link, HELP!" Zelda shouted.
"Okay, okay. Don't rush me. I've got it covered, after all." Link said with a smile. He aimed his sword at the nearby mirror and shot an energy bolt towards it. As soon as it the mirror, it bounced off in an angle and ended up striking the moblin, causing it to vanish. Zelda dropped to her knees after struggling for a slight amount of time, but Link helped her back up on her feet. There were two moblins left, but they escaped out the window.
"Tada! Saved your life again, princess. Kiss me." Link said.
"Of course, Link. Of course." Zelda said. But just before the two could bring their lips together, they could hear King Harkinian's voice calling out for them.
"Link! Zelda! Supper's ready!" he shouted. Zelda turned away from Link and walked for the stairs.
"Coming, Daddy!" Zelda shouted. When Zelda was gone, Link sighed.
"This always happens..." Link said. He soon followed Zelda while Spryte stayed behind to guard the Triforce of Wisdom.

The moblins ran as fast as they could down the pathway in search of the closest entrance to the Underworld.
"Grrrr... Ganon's going to have our heads for this!" one moblin said. Just then, the other looked to the side and noticed something that stopped him in his tracks. He was seeing the giant Saria way out in the distance, moving her foot and looking down like she was stomping something.
"Hey! Hold on! You gotta see this!" the other moblin said. Sure enough, the other one stopped to witness the same thing.
"What do you suppose that is?" one moblin said.
"I don't know. I don't even know if she's human or one of us creatures." another said.
"Whatever! Let's just get out of here and tell Ganon about it!" With that, the moblins started running again and finally found an entrance to Ganon's Underworld.

Down in the Underworld, things weren't so pleasant as one might expect. Of course, with a fiend like Ganon living down here, it's never too pleasant. Two of the moblins that were defeated earlier by Link were standing in front of Ganon as he sat on his throne, with a disgusted look on his face. He looked like the usual pig monster that most of us knew him in the earlier days of Hyrule.
"Imbeciles! How could you not bring me the Triforce of Wisdom again!?" Ganon asked.
"Well... you see, boss, he had to get in my way during the swordfight!" one moblin said.
"Me? You were the one that was supposed to grab the Triforce while we kept Link busy!" the other one said. The arguing continued for a few more seconds until Ganon zapped bolts of electricity at their feet, shocking them slightly.
"SILENCE!!!" Ganon shouted.
"But, master, one other thing... there was this really big girl that we saw out by the forests!" one Moblin said.
"Yeah, yeah! She was gigantic! Almost as big as Gleeok!" the other one said. If Ganon had eyeballs, they would surely be rolling by now.
"Oh, please... must you resort to such sorry excuses to save yourselves from my wrath?" Ganon asked.
"Well... we've never quite seen this girl before." one moblin said.
"Yeah, yeah! She had green hair and was wearing green clothes all the way down her body, somewhat like Link. I thought for sure it was someone from one of your dungeons." another said.
"Hmmm... green hair and green clothes, you say?" Ganon said. Both moblins nodded their head.
"Most interesting. This sounds like someone I once knew... she can't possibly be one of those Hyrule sages of two thousand years ago!" Ganon said.
Just then, an explosion-like sound could be heard in the background, and the underground chambers were vibrating for a few seconds, before gradually returning to normal.
"That came from third Underworld entrance. Quickly! We must find out what it is!" Ganon shouted. He gathered some moblins and stalfos before making way towards the third Underworld entrance.

Link and Zelda sat at the dinner table peacefully. Little had happened in Hyrule that they were aware of for the moment, so conversation was kept at a minimum. King Harkinian couldn't help but wonder out of curiousity what the silence was about.
"What seems to be troubling you two? I hope my cooking isn't causing you two to be silenced..." King Harkinian said. Zelda giggled at that remark.
"No, daddy. It's just that not much has been happening so far in Hyrule today, other than the usual." Zelda said.
"Yeah. It's unlike Ganon to be take a rain check on capturing the Triforce of Wisdom." Link said.
"Oh... like sending those moblins after it wasn't enough for you? We should be lucky that Ganon isn't plotting some large-scale plan to get his hands on our precious Triforce." Zelda said.
"Well excuuuuuuuuse me, princess! We've fought against Ganon long enough to know what to expect from him, or so it would seem. Just you wait, I'm sure he'll appear soon to put another plan of his into action." Link said.
"Well, whether that's true or not, we must always be ready to combat against him. We must not let him lay his hands on the Triforce of Wisdom!" Zelda said.
"Hmmm... Zelda is right. Who knows what Ganon might be doing at this very moment in time?" King Harkinian said. Just then, one of the king's loyal soldiers ran into the room.
"Your majesty! You must come outside quickly! There is something that I must show you!" the soldier said. Everyone got up from table and ran outside to where the guard had stopped. Everyone, including the soldier, looked out into the distance, near the Lost Woods, to see the giant Saria. Of course, none of them had any idea that this was Saria.

"I say... that has to be one of the biggest creatures I've ever seen!" King Harkinian said.
"Creature? That's a giant girl, daddy!" Zelda said.
"Well, for a gigantic creature, she does look cute." Link said with a smile.
"Oh please, Link..." Zelda said, rolling her eyes.
"Do you suppose she's a monster sent by Ganon?" King Harkinian asked.
"It's hard to tell... I know Ganon likes to send big things after us, but this girl looks far too innocent to be evil." Zelda said.
"See? Even you think she's cute! Something is definitely up around here!" Link shouted.
"That's not what I meant! Come on, Link! Grab your horse and follow me to the Lost Woods. We're going to find out who or what she is and why she's here in Hyrule!" Zelda said before running back inside the castle.
"I have a feeling this will be quite an adventure." Link said to himself as he too ran back inside.

Doris, Cassandra, and a handful of other people from the town of Saria, all watched and smiled as Saria crushed as much of the forest as she could in an effort to find the entrance to Ganon's hideout.
"Ah, my dear Cassandra, isn't it sweet to see our town goddess still able to do so much for us even after all these years?" Doris said.
"Well, yes... I suppose. But she is from the past, Grandma. Shouldn't we try to find a way to get her back to her own time?" Cassandra asked.
"We will. But only after she takes care of Ganon for us." Doris said.
"Doris! Princess Zelda is coming! Princess Zelda is coming!" one of the citizens shouted. This got Doris's heart racing. She had forgotten to let Zelda know of the town's plans.
"Well... maybe Zelda will understand. I'm sure of it." Doris said. She then looked up at Saria and shouted, "Saria! Princess Zelda approaches!"
"Zelda? You mean she still lives!?" Saria said. This obviously raised Doris's eyes, but Cassandra figured out what she meant.
"Perhaps our Zelda is a descendant of the Zelda from her time." Cassandra said to Doris. As Zelda and Link stopped their horses from going any further, they approached the two ladies.

"Doris! What in the name of Hyrule is going on here?" Zelda said.
"Well, as you can see, princess, our loyal goddess has returned to save our land!" Doris said.
"Goddess? You mean that is really Saria, the long-forgotten goddess of your town?" Zelda asked. Cassandra tried to say something, but Doris just pushed her out of the way. Saria stopped her crushing work as she was interested by what this particular Zelda had to say.
"Yes, of course! She has come by request of the Hyrule goddesses to rid our town of Ganon's evil!" Doris said. Zelda put her hands on her hips.
"I don't know... Are you even sure this girl isn't one of Ganon's monsters in disguise?" Zelda asked.
"If she were a monster, our town would've been destroyed by now! I can sense no evil energy from this young girl." Doris said.
"I can concur with that. It's like a dream come true, only by a much larger scale." Link said. Saria looked beside Zelda and could just see Link, and she couldn't help but feel excited.
"Oh, Link... remember me?" Saria asked with a smile. She reached down to pick up the hero.
"Whoa!!! Hey! Easy with the lifting!" Link said. He kept still as he sat down on Saria's palm, looking up at the giantess.
"So, Link, do you remember me? All the times we spent together back at the Kokiri Forest?" Saria asked.
"Well... I can't say you ring a bell to me. But you are still cute." Link said. Saria would've made a shocked face by now, but she quickly realized that this was more than likely a descendant of Link. Still, just to remind her of the good times, she pretended she didn't hear that.
"Oh, don't be silly. Remember the one time when you saved me from Mido after he had shrunken me? You were probably the bravest person in all of the forest to stand up to him during that mess." Saria said. Zelda stood frazzled down on ground level.
"Link... please! We need to figure out how we're going to protect Saria from Ganon. Surely he will come after her!" Zelda said.
"Well excuuuuuuuuse me, princess! It's not like I want to date her or anything like that!" Link said.
"It almost makes me think the older Link was quite the ladies' man in Saria's day." Cassandra said. Her mouth was then covered by Doris.
"Keep quiet, Cassandra! You want Zelda to send back our only chance at peace in Saria?" Doris said.
"Grandma, we're only causing harm by keeping her here. Her fellow sages must be looking for her by now. They probably need her so that Hyrule back then can stay protected." Cassandra said. She had expected her grandmother to say something in defense, but instead she remained quiet, like she had just been given a valid point.

Suddenly, everyone looks to the side to see one of the entrances to Ganon's underground chamber rise up from the ground. From it emerged Ganon and a few of his monsters, ranging from moblins to stalfos to octoroks and others. Ganon let out an evil laugh.
"It's Ganon!" Zelda shouted.
"Ganon? He actually survived?" Saria thought to herself.
"Looks like we were crushing the wrong spot." Doris said. Ganon walked towards the group of Hylians.
"Hello, Princess Zelda. I see you have found my old nemesis, Saria, after so many years." Ganon said.
"Huh? What do you mean? You know Saria?" Zelda asked.
"I don't just remember Saria. I will never forget the day in which she and the other sages sealed me in the Golden Land for all eternity! That is, of course, until I was released thanks with the help of the great wizard, Agahnim, and the Triforce of Power! But I have longed for the day when I could have my revenge on all the sages, and Saria is the beginning!" Ganon shouted.
"We won't let you lay a finger on her, you evil wizard!" Zelda shouted.
"Yeah! As soon as I get down from here, I'll be teaching you a big lesson. Literally!" Link shouted from Saria's hand.
"Arrrrrrrrrrgh! Get them, my servants!" Ganon shouted. He stood still while his monsters took charge for the group. Zelda turned to the citizens of Saria.
"Get back and protect Saria, everyone! Link and I will take care of Ganon's creatures!" Zelda shouted.
"And have you take all the glory? Why not have Saria help you out? She can easily crush all those minions to bits and pieces!" Doris asked.
"I said get back and protect her! We can't afford to let Ganon take her!" Zelda shouted. She pulled out her bow & arrow and started to shoot at the monsters, with Link jumping down onto the ground and shooting bolts of energy from his sword. One by one, the monsters disappeared after each were shot at least once by either of the heroes.

But unlike the past few encounters, Ganon wasn't laying back this time around. He sent monster after monster to combat against the two heroes in an effort to tire them out. Saria, meanwhile, wasn't content with just standing there and let Link and Zelda do all the dirty work, not when she could use her huge size at an advantage. So that's when she carefully stepped over the crowd and made her way to the battlefield.

Link and Zelda were each beginning to struggle against the monsters. A few minutes ago, they could easily defeat them with one swift attack, but their fatigue was starting to get the best of them. Finally, they were being held in a struggle by several of the moblins as Ganon approached them.
"Excellent work, my servants. Now, we'll just coax the beautiful Zelda into leading us to the Triforce of Wisdom and..." Before Ganon could finish, a huge shadow blocked all sunlight from beaming down on everyone. Ganon turned and looked up to see Saria towering over him.
"Hey, Ganon! If you want to hurt my friends, you'll have to deal with me first!" Saria said.
"I intend to!" Ganon said. He shot a large bolt of energy towards Saria, but she ended up deflecting it with her magic.
"What!?!?" Ganon shouted in shock.
"You still haven't learned anything after all this time? Heh... it's no wonder we locked you up in the Golden Realm all that time ago." Saria said.
"I'll show you! Get her, my servants!" Ganon shouted. Sure enough, a whole horde of Ganon's monsters charged after Saria.
"You're going down, titaness!" one of the moblins said.
"The bigger they are, the harder they..." before the other one could finish, the two moblins, along with the rest of Ganon's group, were crushed out of existance after Saria slammed her foot down on top of them. To her amazement, the creatures left no blood whatsoever. Just simply vanishing back to what the others knew as Ganon's evil jar. Link just laughed at what he had just seen.
"They didn't see that coming? Honestly, why does Ganon even bother to put up with those things?" Link said.
"Curses!" Ganon said.
"You're next, Ganon!" Saria said, lifting her foot once again. But just as she put it on the ground, Ganon had teleported away and was now standing at the entrance to the underworld.
"Another time, Saria! Another time!!!" Ganon said. He then ran inside as the tunnel collapsed back into the ground from where it came.

"Ta da! The kingdom is safe once again! Kiss me, Princess." Link said.
"Get real, Link. It was Saria that saved us from danger!" Zelda said. Everyone gathered around Saria as she sat down on the ground.
"That was great, Saria. It's no wonder someone as vigilant as you was selected by Din, Farore, and Nayru to be the goddess of our town." Doris said.
"Well, thank you, all of my citizens. But unfortunately, I cannot stay here forever. I must find a way to get back to my current time, with all my friends and fellow sages." Saria said.
"So you mean you're from the past?" Zelda asked Saria.
"Yes she is. She came through some sort of time portal while we were on our way to North Castle. When I found out that she was from the time of almost two thousand years ago, I had wanted to help get her back, until my grandmother insisted she wear the goddesses' necklace." Cassandra said.
"Yes, that is true. And I insisted that she stay so she may protect our kingdom from Ganon, but obviously you had saved us once again, Princess Zelda. Combined with the fact that my granddaughter told me how her own people could be looking for her, I deeply regret all that I have done today." Doris said.
"Awww... don't feel bad, Doris. You did what your heart wanted you to believe. I don't think I would've recognized Saria to be really a visitor from the past either." Link said.
"Link is right. All of us learned a valuable lesson today." Zelda said.
"I do wish I could spend more time in this future world of Hyrule to get to know everyone and everything more, and what the land will shape up like after my life has passed on. Especially you, Link. Your descendent, the one that helped seal Ganon for the first time ever in the Golden Land, was the most handsome thing Hyrule could ever see." Saria said.
"Well then... no wonder I have to live up to Zelda so much!" Link said, jokingly.
"I guess that explains things there. Anyway, Saria, please come with me to North Castle. We will use the Triforce of Wisdom to return you to your current time." Zelda said. She walked down the path towards Hyrule Castle, and everyone followed. Including Saria herself.

Saria stood outside North Castle, which stood at almost the same height as Saria, so there was little that need to be compared between the structure and the giantess. Eventually, Saria could see Zelda walking outside onto one of the balconies. The Princess had to look up from Saria's chest level as she held the Triforce of Wisdom in her hands.
"Once I've focused my energy on the Triforce, I'll zap you back to 5057 HR." Zelda said.
"Thank you, Princess Zelda. I'm sure the Zelda of my time would be proud of all your efforts today." Saria said. Zelda felt flattered at that comment. She didn't think she had descendants that went that far back in time.
"Take care everyone. Maybe I will see you again someday. We'll just see what the future holds." Saria said down to the people of Saria, including Doris and Cassandra. Link, standing next to Zelda, waved goodbye as well, and Saria just blew a kiss to him.
Finally, Zelda was fully charged, and she let out a blast of green energy from the Triforce that completely covered Saria. After glowing green for some time, the giantess had disappeared completely from sight. As that happened, everyone from Saria took one more look at the spot where their goddess once stood before they all started walking back into town. Zelda and Link were walking back inside the castle to place the Triforce of Wisdom back in its place.
"So, Zelda... I was just thinking. What did you think of Saria?" Link asked.
"Well, she seemed like a very sweet person. Why do you ask?" Zelda said.
"Oh, no reason. I was just thinking about what it would be like if you were as big as her." Link said. Zelda gave a cold stare at Link for a few seconds before she started walking again.
"Keep dreaming, hero..." Zelda said.
"Hey! Excuuuuuuuuse me, Princess! Come on, it was just an idea!" Link said as they continued their walk.

Doris and Cassandra were halfway back home when Doris suddenly stopped. Cassandra stopped as well.
"Grandma, what's wrong?" Cassandra asked.
"Cassandra, my dear, you didn't remind me to take that necklace off Saria before she left did you?" Doris asked.
"Necklace?" Cassandra asked. At first, she felt puzzled, but that's when it hit her.
"Uh oh... Grandma. We didn't just..." Cassandra started.
"...let her take the necklace home with her. Did we?" Doris finished. But the two quickly shook their heads and kept on walking. If it was a problem, there was nothing they could do about it now. In fact, about the only permanent negative point of this whole thing is that it will probably take many more years before Doris could make another necklace worthy of the goddesses.

Present time

When Saria opened her eyes once again, she looked around her surroundings and saw she was on familiar territory. She was home. Hyrule of the year 5057 HR. But there was one problem as she looked down.

The land looked considerably smaller than it was before. The Lost Woods didn't seem so lost now. In fact, Saria took one look to the side, close to Death Mountain, to see Biggoron walking back. She was a bit taller than he was. Biggoron immediately recognized the giant Saria and stopped to greet her.
"Saria! Welcome back. Darunia has been looking for you." Biggoron said.
"Uh... thanks, Biggoron." Saria said.
"Anytime. But how did you get so big like that?" Biggoron asked. Just then, Saria had remembered about the necklace that Doris had made for her. Apparently she had forgotten to take it off before she was zapped back to the current time period by Princess Zelda.
"I guess with this thing. If I take it off..." Saria said. She gently removed the necklace from around her neck, and as soon as that happened, Saria could feel herself shrinking in size. Smaller and smaller she shrunk until she was back to her normal height. She was looking up at Biggoron like before.
"Well, I'll go tell Darunia for you that you're okay." Biggoron said. Saria just nodded her head as he walked back to Death Mountain. Saria then took one more look at the necklace she had just taken off.
"I can't allow this thing to fall into the wrong hands. Best that it didn't exist." Saria said. She then used all her strength to stretch the necklace before it finally snapped in half, rendering it permanently useless.

She then threw the pieces as far away as she could into the depths of the Lost Woods before walking back to the Kokiri village to greet everyone once again.
